task
The school roofs were showing multiple signs of failure which resulted in roof leaks and various internal damage. Some of the roofs comprised large lantern rooflights which were in fragile condition that required replacing. There was also some large redundant mechanical and electrical upon the kitchen roof that required moving before works were carried out.
approach
MAC consultants applied for government CIF education funding and were successful with the application. As a result, Central were appointed to carry out the works according to the Langley specification. We had several rooftop services and penetrations to address and upgrade, including Georgian wired rooflights, lanterns, modular and structural rooflights, plus low-level windows, a door threshold, lead outlets and chutes.
solution
A BUR felt membrane waterproofing system was installed, including roof light replacement, internal decoration works, ceiling tiles and lighting. The school was pleased with the attention to detail and workmanship ensured by Central, leaving the school with high-performing guaranteed roofs for many years ahead. The project was an excellent example of a working partnership between Langley and Central.
