Central Group Unveils Net Zero Road Map
Central Group is pleased to announce the publication of its Net Zero Road Map, setting out a clear, structured pathway to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2050, in alignment with UK Government legislation and national climate targets.
Developed in collaboration with Elemental Consulting Group and led by our ESG and Sustainability Manager, Ceri Lewis, the roadmap establishes measurable, time-bound actions designed to significantly reduce Central Group’s environmental impact across all areas of operation.
The Net Zero Road Map adopts a phased approach from 2023 to 2050, underpinned by robust governance and data-led decision-making. It focuses on the identification, management, and reduction of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, ensuring that carbon reduction is embedded into both operational activity and long-term business strategy.
Key Commitments
– Establishing comprehensive carbon baselines and improving the quality of emissions data collection, particularly for Scope 3 categories.
– Implementing energy efficiency measures across all owned premises, including LED lighting, motion sensors and on-site renewable energy generation.
– Transitioning the company fleet to low-emission and electric vehicles, where operationally practicable.
– Reducing energy consumption and waste through paperless systems, digital processes and responsible resource management.
– Achieving Scope 2 Net Zero across all owned branches by 2035, followed by Scope 1 Net Zero by 2040.
Reviewing Progress Annually
Progress against the Net Zero Road Map will be reviewed annually, with performance monitored through formal reporting, continuous improvement initiatives, and senior management oversight. This ensures transparency, accountability, and alignment with evolving best practices within the construction and built environment sectors.
